The canton of Schaffhausen has no general course obligation. However, for certain breed types (American Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Dobermann, etc.), a cantonal keeping permit from the Veterinary Office must be obtained before acquisition — keeping without a permit, even on a trial basis, is prohibited (§ 4 HundeV SH; SHR 455.201).
